The body of a woman found floating in the Charles River at East Cambridge Thursday was identified as Mrs. Bridget McLoughlin of Scituate. She had threatened suicide due to poverty, and it appears she carried out those intentions over the past weekend. A friend had returned part of her clothing to her a week earlier.

Tobin Petitions for Writ to Free Wife Held by Brockton Police
In a Supreme Court action Judge Allen issued a writ of habeas corpus ordering Brockton police to release Edgar Tobin's wife, taken from their home July 16 while her husband worked. She is believed to be on Nantucket. Tobin, a Brockton shoe factory mechanic, said she was a witness for the government before a Plymouth grand jury in the Arthur A. Albee murder case. The Honorable Thomas Davis died in Providence at nearly ninety in the early morning hours after a long career opposing the old King George III charter and anti-foreigner disfranchisement laws. Born in Ireland on December 18, 1806, he received a late life honor from Rhode Island allied clubs and the colored community. His daughter Miss Davis recently married Theodore W. Foster, jeweller, who runs the Davis factory on Richmond street.
