A scow near East Otis was swamped by heavy waves. Lads were plunged into the water as a motorboat hurried to aid them, but toppling victims and frantic rescuers followed as rescues continued.
Eleven boys from the Springfield Boys Club drowned at Big Pond East Otis when a towing flatboat and a motorboat tipped over due to high waves and overcrowding. Names of the missing include Fred Miller Edward Boucher Amos Newell Fred Stevens Francis Moriarty Harry Nash Donato Dilizia Mitchell Levine Leonardo Santafiero and others. one director died saving a boy.
In Pittsfield Berkshire Superior Court Mrs Jadys Courvoisier Dunn mother of three year old Joseph Allen Dunn Jr collapses emotionally as defense attorney John F Noxon delivers the opening statement. The trial continues as proceedings move to page ten fourth column.

July 25. Lieutenant R C Moffat of Camp Devens on recruiting duty crashed into a tree during an exhibition at the Welcome Home Celebration. Mechanician Germain, his passenger, was not injured. The motor stopped suddenly, ending the flight without harm to either man.

In Saco Maine an infuriated bull killed 11 year old Frank Chick in a pasture at George W Nutter's farm. The boy struck the bull with a stick as it charged and fell after sidestepping. Wesley Smith witnessed the fatal event and the bull impaled Frank with its horn. The child had been placed on the Nutter farm by the York County Children's Aid Society.
