Tragic sea voyage endangers Day family driver

Ernest W. Day of Hood Rubber Co on a yachting trip May 17 vanished after departing New Bedford for Halifax. His wife Mrs Day fears disaster as storms and heavy rain followed the craft. Day, an experienced yachtsman, was joined by two New York friends and a three man crew. He last telephoned July 1. the party reported delays but were en route toward Halifax and promised to contact once safe. Day had spent his vacation in New London.

Coroner Finds Railroad Negligence After Fatal Federal Express Wreck

Bridgeport officials ruled the New York New Haven and Hartford Railroad negligent after the Federal Express crash that killed 14 and injured 40 on July 11. Man Survives Barrel Descent Over Niagara Falls

Bobby Leach of Niagara Falls Ontario, 49, plunged 158 feet over Horseshoe Falls in a barrel this afternoon and survived with superficial injuries. He is reportedly able to be about his Niagara Falls home tonight. The feat marks the second time a barrel passage succeeded at the river cataract, following Mrs. Anna Edson Taylor’s 1901 descent.

Child of 4 Found Slain in Hanover Farmyard

The 12 year old Harry Levine son of Anselm Levine of New York city was found slain in a blackberry swamp near Hanover on July 2. An autopsy by the Medical Examiner determined death by a degenerate.
