Roy Atkinson reports Edward Riley of Allen Farm Mullis received a Ford touring car as a prize for his story The Light on the Grave in the Ford a Day contest. He plans to gift the car to his kind parents who helped him during unemployment last winter.
Walter Hagen and Joe Kirkwood defeated Francis Ouimet and Jesse Guilford of Boston 3 up with 2 to play in an 18 hole match at the Engineers Club course in New York on July 23.

Glen Hayford 41, recently sentenced to state prison for five to eight years on perjury charges, hanged himself in the Washington County jail using a rope. He had lied to obtain a marriage license to wed Lillian Lee of Walcott, a 13 year old girl, while claiming different ages. Hayford's wife resided in New Hampshire and the Lee girl is in a delicate condition.
Lawyers for Sonny Whitney seek life exile and public shame for Evan Burrows Fontaine in exchange for a settlement involving herself and the child. The legal action centers on damages and reputational harm amid ongoing dispute.
