Conscripts 500 000 for new army to follow. Exemption offices all to be opened today. Those selected for service under the draft may enlist in the regular army or National Guard before appearing for examination before exemption boards, probably 10 days hence. They will not be allowed to join the Marine Corps.
The first men drafted will be detailed to the regular army to reach 300,000 if 35,000 enlistments are not obtained before examinations begin. The National Guard will be brought up to its quota, then a new national army of 50,000 men will be formed.
A crowd of about 3000 rushed a Nantasket Beach Steamship Mary Chilton boat at emberton pier. Guards and a government inspector failed to stop the scramble injuring women and children, with Mary McDonald of Roxbury among the hurt.
Minneapolis flour men say a minimum price around 12 dollars per barrel for best grades of flour will result if wheat is fixed at 2 dollars a bushel as in the food patrol bill passed by the Senate yesterday. Best grades sold at 13.50 dollars per barrel here yesterday, up 50 cents from the week.
Socialists and Workmen's Council of Greater Boston held a peaceful gathering on Boston Common with 5000 to 6000 spectators. No rioting occurred, unlike the parade three weeks earlier. Provost guards moved crowds toward Park Square, but the event remained orderly despite curiosity and a crowded Socialist headquarters at No 14.
Blue coated policemen and white uniform provost guardsmen from the navy and olive drab army soldiers moved through a large crowd with clubs drawn, taking strategic positions as calm persisted in the scene.

New York July 22 The MacLean Kilties of America will leave Monday for Boston where they will parade from South Station to the Parker House then to Crawford House before marching to North Station to entrain for Fredericton en route to Valcartier. Lieutenant Seeley, with Colonel Guthrie's party, returns to Boston tomorrow.
Two men died in Boston as sweltering heat swept the city yesterday. The temperature reached 92 degrees at the weather bureau, with street thermometers recording higher readings, as residents endured the hottest July day since 1901.

Michael Rizzo, 21, of the North End, was overcome at North Station and transported to relief hospital.
