The society handled 144 cruelty cases last month, prosecuted 10, caused 21 men to be taken from work, and humane killings numbered 64.

During Sunday’s heavy blow, the sloop Vision was dismasted off Bird Island and towed to the city by the police boat Protector. The catboat Kitty also dismasted off Long Island was towed to City Point by the Protector. A boat capsized near the navy yard at 2:30 PM, pulling John Doherty, Frank McGuinnis, and John Sullivan, all about 20, from drowning. they were rescued by Patrol’s crew.
