A baby boy may force his mother, an immigrant from the steam ship Arabic, to return home. At St Mary’s Infant Asylum in Dorchester, Helena Mc Cabe cares for her two day old baby. Immigration officials say the mother and infant must be adopted to allow the mother to stay. The mother was ill on landing and delivered the child in hospital after arrival.

A blaze at 119 121 Green Street Jamaica Plain last evening trapped several residents who were rescued with difficulty. The building owned by Louis Hofman a baker housed John H Wells his wife aged couple Charles Coll and his son Joseph 9 Edward Sealer a boarder and Jacob Stoll his wife and four children on the upper floors.
George A. Hulse a Southampton carpenter and his 11 year old son drowned while swimming off Sebonic Creek. Mrs Hulse and six other children watched helpless as the two men disappeared. A clam digger helped bring the bodies ashore and the coroner later took charge.
President Roosevelt and three eldest sons lead a camping party from Sagamore Hill with cousins and friends. Mount Washington, N H. July 18. Residents reported the hottest day of the summer with unusual attire as overcoats were worn atop the peak. The thermometer started at 37 degrees at 8 am and rose toward the 60 degree mark later in the day.
In Santa Clara on July 18 Daniel Maloney fell 3000 feet during an ascent with Professor Montgomery's aeroplane. Spectators watched as the craft malfunctioned, the wings collapsed, and Maloney died from skull fractures after the machine was demolished. Cadets transported him to the college hospital.
Patrolman Sullivan of Station 16 arrested John Kadra alias John L. Colded and George Yahran yesterday on suspicion. Kadra or Colded was wanted in Concord for breaking and entering and had escaped from the reformatory. He is to be sent back to Concord.
New York July 18 Captain William J King of the Bronx was found near death aboard his sloop yacht Aglai anchored off Bath Beach. He had a bullet wound in the left temple a bullet in the right shoulder and a fractured jaw indicating a desperate attempt on his life.
Officers of the Ninth Regiment reported after a Westfield visit that they were not involved in any theft from George Mesick's factory. They said whips were given as souvenirs or sold, with some obtained by men from other commands and others as presents. Mesick claimed he knew nothing until yesterday.
