A seaark thief bank robbery occurred in Coldwater Michigan this afternoon. George Starr cashier counted a package of bills when a confederate seized a valuable jewelry box belonging to H. Lewis president of the bank. The culprits fled in a waiting carriage, pursued by two officers, were overtaken a mile out. They fled after four revolvers were shown.

Yellow fever is spreading in Vera Cruz with 90 deaths in May and 261 in June, plus 144 to date. Inport personnel from Norwegian vessels are at risk. 7 percent of American sailors there have died. Ships from Vera Cruz bring cases to New Orleans quarantine. Surgeon General Hamilton says no shore case yet in the United States and a Marine Hospital Service representative will remain at Vera Cruz until the outbreak wanes.
The News Laredo dispatch reports Doctor Campbell American consul at Monterey arrived in Laredo on the 15th. The Monterey consulate was entered on Monday night, Rev Shaw beaten nearly to death, furniture and papers destroyed, and Shaw remained unconscious after revival. Public sentiment in Laredo calls for U>S. retaliation to the insult.
The colored state convention in Columbia South Carolina denounces the national Republican party for its treatment of colored citizens over six years and condemns appointing white men to offices while excluding blacks. It claims the state government is unfree, asserts juries and verdicts depend on race, denounces lynching, and criticizes the public schools system as inefficient.
A Salt Lake City dispatch to the Evening Post reports Bishop Knudson of Apley Utah Unitah county arrested for placing dynamite under a bed injuring his two wives. He faces an attempted murder charge in the case.
An east-bound express train derailed near Knoxville after a mislaid switch at the zinc works caused four coal cars to be demolished. The locomotive and tender overturned and the main building was wrecked, with the mail and express cars damaged. A large reward is offered for the person who broke the lock and altered the switch.

Claimants Charles H Gordon Ellen D McComb widow of H D McComb and heirs of Henry Bartram owners of the schooner Annie Smith captured off the Florida coast in 1861 by the confederate cruiser Madison Smith later recaptured and destroyed by the United States government. They seek 25000 dollars in damages with interest.

They paused before Union League, sang patriotic anthems, then returned to quarters for addresses, refreshments, and dancing.
