Yerkes Named Governor Nominee at Kentucky GOP Convention

John W. Yerkes of Danville was nominated for Governor at the Republican convention in Louisville. The platform centers on the Goebel election law as the key issue. The meeting adjourned in under three hours with some anti Goebel Democrats present, and speakers praised past Democratic achievements while denouncing the current state administration. The extraordinary vacancy arose from William Goebel's death.

Girl with the Gold Tooth Captured in Boston Rogues Gallery

Anna Hall known as the girl with the gold tooth was arrested Monday on a theft charge involving $125 from James O Toole. She was photographed for the Rogues Gallery and a copy will be sent to police bureaus nationwide. Chief Watts calls the capture among the best in Boston amid multiple pockets thefts by a woman described as a thief with a gold tooth. She appeared in Municipal Court before Judge Sullivan and is held in $500 for grand jury appearance.

Chelsea Board Passes Rail Location Over Mayor Gould

The Chelsea Board of Aldermen, by ten votes, approved granting a location to the Chelsea & Revere Street Railway Company despite Mayor Gould's veto, ending the railroad dispute for now. Alderman McClintock also secured approval for a $16,000 land purchase and high school building project, while businessmen petitioned for a 2 12 cent Lynn & Boston railroad fare within city limits, referred to a special committee.

Salem Willows Concert and Boat Excursion Schedule

The Salem Cadet Band will perform next Sunday at Salem Willows with two concerts, one in the afternoon and one in the evening. A boat from Winthrop wharf departs at 10:30 a.m. and returns at 4:45 p.m., offering an additional two hour sail around the islands after landing passengers at the Willows. Hundreds joined last Sunday for the 10 cent ocean trip, while others stayed aboard. The event complements weekly band concerts and vaudeville at Gorman's theatre with pavilion dancing during the day.
