Trawlers Reach New Bedford Wharf With Fresh Catch

A soggy diary of harbor activity reports a flotilla at T wharf with nine trawlers and the New port schooner Viking selling swordfish at 21 cents a pound due to a tight market. The Foam trawler project advances at Quincy with a two-furnace boiler from Bath Ironworks and a near fall commissioning. Bananas arrive aboard the Bound Brook from Kingston while Captain H. P. L. Tuck takes command. Usk and Philadelphian also trade cargoes as ocean freights adjust to market conditions.
