Grangers Raid Depresses Stocks on Rock Island and Burlington

A heavy market downturn followed by a broad liquidation hit rails including Burlington and Rock Island with declines late in the session. Burlington fell to 80 7-8 after a brief rally, Rock Island closed at 64 1-2, and Atchison weakened further amid overall cautious sentiment. Reading and Lake Shore showed strength, while Van derbilt purchases supported Reading. Westinghouse earnings for March to June totaled about 1 million dollars, and gold imports were not confirmed despite increased commercial bills.
