Miss Ellen Hennessy 27, daughter of James Hennessy a local railroad gate tender, was killed on the Brockton road at Pine Hill Cemetery when struck by a speeding automobile whose occupants fled. A second car, driven by a witness, pursued the fleeing assailants but they escaped.
A small dark runabout without lights struck Miss Hennessy as she walked toward Brockton near Campella. She died instantly after the impact. The car sped away after a brief inspection, pursued by another auto with witnesses, and police issued an all towns alert for the vehicle.
A fire at 90 Salem Street ignited by kerosene caused about 30 dollars in damage and empty cans were found. The blaze prompted quick response by Engine 8 and displaced a family on the third floor. Authorities note this is the fourth North End incendiary fire in recent days.

Perth New Brunswick July 12 Six people from three generations rode in a carriage pulled by a runaway horse. Mrs Edward Carle of Somerville Mass was killed instantly. Her mother Mrs James Patterson of Perth was thrown clear and unconscious. A 16 months old baby, youngest child of Mrs Carle, also hurled from the carriage but escaped uninjured. The other three children remained in their seats unharmed.
