In dense fog a vessel named Romanic collided with a fishing schooner. Three men are reported lost while fifteen others are saved by nearby ships and lifeboats. Rescue operations continue as authorities investigate the accident.
Frank W. Phipps proprietor of the Lily Pond House at Lake Quinsigamond is jailed on murder charges after Charles L. Burnap's bullet killed him near Phipps’s property in Shrewsbury. Witnesses include Mary Brennan and Maud Morse with alibi and damaging statements. arraignment set for tomorrow morning.
The White Star liner Romantic struck the Boothbay fishing schooner Natalie B Nickerson in dense fog off Nantucket lightship, sending all 18 crew into the sea. Three fishermen, including Everett and Elwell Greenleaf, are missing. William Winchester of Digby, N S also unaccounted. Survivors were rescued by the liner and brought to Everett, Maine. The Romantic proceeded toward New York after a Boston to Italy trip.

In Watertown Charles Reed, 22, adopted son of John Reed and local farm keeper, was shot in his yard at the Orchard and Carroll streets corner. Beppo Antonio Zecholo, a Boston tailor visiting Mary Angelone, was accused by many Italians but fled after the crime. Michael Angelone, detained as a witness, is now held as the alleged shooter. Zecholo is sought only as a witness.
