The exhibit this week is more favorable than any in recent memory with gains in percentages over last year and the prior week. New York’s clearings rose to $488,978,897 from $484,709,355, while 26 cities totaled $752,897,046 versus $737,391,504 last week and $707,516,816 last year, a 7.8 percent rise year over year. Outside New York, countrywide clearings reached $263,918,149, up from $252,681,990 last week and $230,647,542 a year ago, with most cities posting increases. Among the few declines or flat readings are Indianapolis, Springfield, Syreuse, and Lowell.
