Des Moines reports Raccoon and South Des Moines flooding. many homes and fences lost, stock losses reported. C B Q track out, Des Moines cut off from east. heaviest rain in years.
Scores die and many more prostrated as Cincinnati endures a 102.2 degree day. Dozens lie unidentified at the undertaker's, with coroner Bendigs also stricken but expected to recover. Names include John Price of Price's Hill and merchant William Avery amid statewide weather casualty reports.

Brockville reports the largest orange procession with 2066 participants. Sarnia notes strong turnout yet weather spoiled displays. Ottawa and Montreal record no public orange demonstrations, choosing socials instead.
A five year old boy, son of Thomas Roberts of Portland, fell from a second story window on Tuesday and died. In Biddeford a coroner's jury found James Hayes died by his own carelessness, absolving the Boston and Maine railroad. Twin brothers Henry and Asa Ball of Lock Island were swept off their boat returning from fishing off Nafatree point and Asa drowned. Michael Lee of East Blackstone aged 75 was arrested for brutal assault on sister Ann Gilleney 70 after ingesting paris green in a personal crisis. In a Montreal report dated July 12, two women Delia Poirier and Gertrude Roberts shared a cell at Longue Point asylum. Poirier, described as devout and diagnosed mono maniac, believed she saw a dragon during the night and killed her cellmate by striking with a board. The incident occurred yesterday morning.
