Bolt Wrecks Chimneys at Rainsford Island

A severe electric storm struck Rainsford Island Reform School yesterday at 3 pm. A tower and dormitory chimney were destroyed, causing $2000 in damages as 3 tons of bricks and mortar flew 120 feet and fell near the entrance. Superintendent John J. Ryan narrowly escaped, while Miss Elizabeth Egan avoided the falling debris. Six boys and a nearby farmer faced near misses, and a horse and omnibus were toppled by the blast. The incident left a sulfur smell and slight structural damage to adjacent rooms.
