Fire crews battled a blaze for three hours as torrents of water were poured on the flames. Multiple units responded, containing the inferno and preventing spread to nearby structures. No injuries reported. The cause is under investigation.
A fire incident sent 25 workmen fleeing to the roof and later treated at Relief Hospital. Several named firefighters and captains responded including Thomas Andreoli, Napeen Bouteler, Henry Fox, and others. One lieutenant, M. J. Teehan, was burned on face and hands.

Boise Idaho July 10 President Charles H Moyer of the Western Federation of Miners testified for Secretary William Haywood amid charges of murdering Frank Steunenberg He denied all crimes attributed to him and other federation leaders by Harry Orchard He explained the federation's unsolicited role in Orchard s defense after his Caldwell arrest In the Steunenberg case Moyer stood as a key witness for the defense.
Moyer swore Jack Simpkins engaged Attorney Fred Miller in Spokane to represent Orchard later known as Thomas Hogan. He said Simpkins asked him and Haywood to advance 1500 from federation funds for Orchard's defense, and that he learned of the crime from Denver papers. He denied discussing any crime with Orchard or giving him funds except trip expenses for Orchard as Moyer’s bodyguard. no hostility toward Steunenberg and no motive against John Neville.
Waltham July 10. There will be no strike of Newton Street Railway Company employees for 24 hours as President Tuttle of the Boston and Maine railroad works to reach a settlement. Representatives of the company employees and citizens met this evening. the company refuses to reinstate discharged men to please the union.
New York July 10 Billy Glover of Boston and Bant Dorsey of Brooklyn battled to a fast six round draw at the Sharkey A C show tonight.
The Boston Nationals defeated Cincinnati 5 to 4 in an extra inning finish. The Americans split two games in Cleveland, taking the first 5 to blank and losing the second 2 to blank. Charles Edward wins the Brighton Beach feature race in a long time.
Moran directs assistant McGettrick to probe rumors that money funded votes for the 1 599 500 council bill. Lt Lee and a stenographic team visit all 75 council members to document possible bribe offers or takers. Results will be kept confidential until the inquiry is complete with potential jail for violators.
