In Salem a chauffeur Edward Pomerleau high speed rear ended a passing car, killing Arthur Couture 25 of 70 Loring Ave. Couture, seated with his wife in his lap, suffered a fractured skull as a rod pierced it. his wife unharmed. Pomerleau was arrested for manslaughter after the crash near Dead Man's Curve. Couture was brother of Rose Couture who had just wed Peter Arsenault.
Detectives tying to the Keyes murder report a Mattapan newsboy recalls selling a morning paper to a woman in a nurse’s uniform around 5 AM on June 20, the day after Mrs Pauline Keyes was found slain in Brookline. Harriet A Varney, facing charges, is tied to the hospital morning outing.
