Sharp Declines in Both Markets Across Wall Street and London

Wall Street faced acute weakness with trading volume more than doubling the average. New York Central and United States Steel led the declines amid speculation about financing for the railroad giant’s vast terminal and improvements. Copper and coal shares fell, Amalgamated and Dominion Iron moved lower, while analysts debated dividend policy and potential market manipulation. The Boston market echoed the downturn with weakness in copper and Dominion securities and a cautious outlook for dividends.
