A massive fire gutted three steamship docks and a large grain elevator at the waterfront. The blaze killed one man and injured ten firefighters, with property losses estimated at 1.28 million dollars. The Leyland line steamer Devonian was saved as three vessels were pulled from the flames.
A massive fire swept the East Boston waterfront causing over 1.25 million dollars of damage. The inferno destroyed three steamship docks and a grain elevator, with one confirmed death of watchman Daniel Sullivan and ten firefighters injured during a three hour battle.

At Convention Hall in Denver 12,000 people roared for William J. Bryan for about an hour and a half. Senator Gore from Oklahoma sparked the outburst with a brief speech and watched the sea of cheers from his railing as bands played and crowds sang.
Delegates in Oklahoma loudly applauded Senator Gore as he spoke on constitutional rights and party loyalty. He contrasted Taft’s advice with Bryan’s and led a Bryan demonstration that erupted with banners and a toppled eagle ornament, while Georgia’s delegation sat in silence.
Richmond Pearson Hobson told the Democratic national convention that the President once said there was a strong chance of war with Japan. The crowd heckled as Hobson urged including a plank for Navy expansion in the platform.
A Connecticut delegate kept pace with state standards and led a march to the stage where delegates gathered. A frenzied rush surged toward the platform as others moved forward in the crowded scene.

Forecast for Boston and vicinity calls for Thursday and Friday to be fair with warmer temperatures. Light westerly winds expected. New England forecast notes fair conditions in the north and showers in the south on Friday with light northwest winds turning variable.
An early morning gas explosion and subsequent blaze at 297 Cambridge Street left three known dead and four others critically injured or dying. Rescued residents included women and children who used life nets, while flames spread to adjacent wooden structures and a man remained missing. Mass General Hospital treated several seriously burned victims including Mrs John McNeil and her daughter Sarah.
