Nominations for General Appraisers face Senate objections

Senate finance committee members raised objections to several new General Appraisers nominees including General Sharpe of New York and Democrats Jewell of New York and Robertson of Louisiana. No charges were made against them but some senators questioned their qualifications. Nominations were left to linger with a likely eventual confirmation. Jewell enjoys ex president Cleveland's endorsement, influencing his nomination, while McMahon supporters urge withdrawal of that endorsement. If Democrats lose these nominations, supporters of other candidates will push harder.
