Fire Harrows Four Story Brick Building At 372 Massachusetts Avenue

A basement to roof blaze at 372 Massachusetts Avenue drove seven families from their apartments just after midnight. Residents including Mrs Addie Dolan and Mrs George Gra ham aided others, with many escaping through smoke filled halls. Owner Anna C Jansen and others evacuated as water damage added to the loss, estimated around 1500 dollars.

Fore River Shipyard Bid Spotlight on Hamburg American Liner

It was learned yesterday that the Fore River Shipbuilding Corporation was asked to submit bids for a large new ocean liner for the Hamburg American line costing about $2,000,000. The plans and specifications have been received and the yard in Quincy expects to name a figure that will secure the contract.

The Hamburg American line plans a new company to enter coast to coast trade via the canal, building at least six new vessels in the United States. Bids for additional ships may include Fore River works, and a locally built liner would employ hundreds of workers for about two years.

Woman's wit nabs suspected burglar at Hotel Brunswick

John Gordon, 34, known to police as a dangerous burglar, was captured at the Hotel Brunswick in Back Bay thanks to Mrs. H. H. Barnes. Gordon pretended to be a Brockton salesman and gave a false name. He was charged with breaking and entering the Barnes residence after a hotel floor man apprehended him.
