Bryan Loses Fight For Hearst Delegation At Convention
At St Louis on July 7 the convention seated Hopkins faction over Bryan Hearst delegates by 647 to 299. Bryan spoke urging majority rule and unity, denouncing Illinois faction tactics. Hopkins supporters clashed with dissenters as credentials committee chair defended fairness before Illinois delegation seated.
