Alfred R Patterson, an expert accountant for ten years with Stone and Webster, testified on telephone company accounting as public hearings on the Post petition for rate reductions and service improvements resumed. Authorities believe the woman may be near Island Pond and pledge a house to house search tonight.
Sheriff Collis reports a woman and Mrs Studley arrived by train at Canobie Lake last Monday morning. They spoke ten minutes, then Mrs Studley left toward the lake. The companion vanished, last seen near Island Pond. Authorities seek her whereabouts as the last person seen alive.
Williams College trustees announce President Henry Hopkins has resigned. In June 1908 he steps down. Professor Harry A Garfield of Princeton has been chosen to succeed him and has accepted the appointment.
A Stanley car owned by Miss Ellen Feely and driven by John Boyce overturned in a ditch on Maw street near the Melrose line. Passengers Miss Feely and Miss Henrietta Stevens and Boyce were thrown out. Feely had a dislocated shoulder and was taken to Sunny Side Hospital Melrose. Stevens suffered contusions and a bad shaking up. Boyce was severely shaken. The riders were from Stoneham and left the Melrose line to follow a car track due to roadside excavations.
Three men about 30 years old were walking on Boston and Albany tracks beyond Allston at 2 45 am when a freight train struck them. One died, another was taken to City Hospital where death is expected, and the third was arrested for track walking. The dead man awaits ID at Sullivan's undertaking rooms.

Sacrificing her life, Mrs Daniel Horan 38, wife of a Salem patrolman, drowned with her 12-year-old son Patrick in Hittit Pond near Canobie Lake. The boy failed to return from a spring hole. she then plunged in to rescue him but both perished. Bodies recovered four hours later.

A white and yellow collie mauled more than twenty people in South Boston Old Dorchester and Neponset before Patrolmen Robinson and Curley of Station 6 shot it dead at 1 30 this morning in James Holland’s yard. A large yellow collie or bull dog roamed Dorchester last night causing panic and biting five residents. Alphonse Kelley on Savin Hill Avenue was first attacked near 8 o clock at Savin Hill and Dorchester avenues. Fred J. Smith on Neponset Avenue followed as the second victim.
