A large crowd gathered on the Common for the 4 o'clock ascension of the air ship. A boy’s stone punctured the balloon causing a delay for repairs. The balloon rose with 48 000 feet of gas, passed over Charles Street, snagged in tree tops, then cleared the grip and drifted away until unseen.
