John Steedly was shot and killed today during Sunday school at Hunter's Chapel Church in Barnwell County Charleston. Emma Connelly fired the fatal shot after allegedly circulating slanderous reports about Steedly. Emma surrendered to authorities as her brother W. J. Connelly and A. Lott had recently convicted Steedly for the same offense.

A large Bath blaze discovered between 11 and 12 tonight spread from a stable near Washington street into surrounding wood framed blocks. By 1 am the fire was controlled, but the Music Hall block housing Welch grocer reform club Hall and city liquor agency burned completely, valued at 5000 with insurance. In South Framingham on July 4, bakery owner Robert Dailey was stabbed in the abdomen while his wife waited in front of McNulty's store. Dailey claimed an unknown assailant. his clothing bled when his wife found him. Dr. Boynton treated a one inch cut near the navel, depth undetermined and not yet life threatening. The incident is treated with skepticism as Dailey appeared intoxicated.
