Somerville Celebrates with Parades Fireside Programs and Regatta

Somerville held a citywide celebration organized by the Board of Aldermen led by Isaac M Story and the Somerville Fourth of July Association. Festivities in Brookline Highlight Town Events

Brookline citizens and visitors enjoyed a day of children's Punch and Judy, a monster vaudeville show led by A Paul Keith, and a baseball game where Brookline nines defeated Holtzer Cabot 11 to 2. Cypress Street Common hosted three bicycle races with Norris winning the three mile and the five mile handicap. Cornelius Beard claimed the junior race, and Norris also won the five mile handicap after a scramble for the lead. A dramatic firework display closed the evening with the Charlestown Cadet Band drawing praise.
