Elliot Danforth a Strong Democratic VP Hope in New York

Lumber Fire Destroys 2.5 Million Feet of Dressed Timber

Fire scorched 2,500,000 feet of dressed lumber with losses pegged at 100000 dollars. Adjoining properties were threatened but escaped. Everett Piano Co. narrowly avoided damage as Captain Hibbard of Engine 21 was struck by a falling electric light pole and firefighters were overcome by smoke.

Last Night's Fire Destroys Leatherbee Lumber Yard

A major blaze gutted the C. W. Leatherbee Lumber Company yard at 520 Albany Street last night as four alarms rang out. Loss pegged at 100000 and insured, with 3,000,000 feet of lumber burned. Captain Hibbard of Engine 21 injured. horses saved though wagons and harnesses perished. Authorities suspect tramp involvement. fire attributed to unknown cause. The plant included offices, sheds, a two acre yard, and a wharf on South Bay. nearby firms narrowly escaped. The blaze began around 8:30 p m and prompted emergency response from Box 71 and Chief Webber.
