Anthracite Coal Production and Grain Prices Report

The week ended June 28 saw anthracite coal output at 88 994 tons, far below the prior year total of 516 295 tons, and bringing year-to-date production to 13 290 271 tons against last year’s 14 44 578 tons. On call trading showed little activity with oats limited to 6 cars. on the first call there were no sales and price bids ranged around 37 to 38 cents for July to October. The second call listed cash at 87 cents bid with 38 cents asked and noted limited sales. Car inspections revealed a mix of low cars including 6 high mixed corn and various oat lots, with several No 2 and No 1 grades and some rejects.

Hartford Guard Arrives in Boston for White Mountains Visit

About 150 members including 50 riflemen of Connecticut's first National Guard regiment reached Boston by the New York and New England railroad. A Boston Fusiliers delegation greeted them at the station and invited the group to use the corps armory as headquarters during their brief stay before proceeding to the White Mountains.
