Boston sidewalk removal case ends in Supreme Court ruling
The attorney general’s bid to stop removing the Boylston street sidewalk adjoining the Common was dismissed by the Supreme Court. The 1872 statute repeals earlier laws, abutters have no rights on sidewalks bordered by paved streets, and city power rests with the Mayor under the new charter. Mayor O Brien plans to consider action as aldermen may rescind the order.
