Milk prices were raised to nine cents a quart by major local dealers. The hike from eight cents comes two months earlier than last year and three months earlier than in prior years, due to a compromise with farmers at the end of the milk war.

Milk price dispute cited by mill owners and dairy firms

W A Graustein and James H Knapp argue over milk price hikes blaming health rulings and the milk strike. Knapp says the raise rests with the strike, while Graustein ties it to the milk bottle ruling and farm price deals.
