New London Conn June 30 Harvard University crews swept three major races over Yale in a dramatic rivalry. Harvard freshmen jumped early and held lead while varsity four overcame a two length Yale edge in the final stretch. Yale stroke Wallis fainted as Harvard eight finished four lengths ahead amid cannon roars and steam whistle clashes.
Visitors descend on New London by land and sea for a bustling arrival day. Automobiles steamers trolleys flood streets as police eye rowdy crowds and locals note the annual celebration. Fruit stands are raided and hotel halls buzz until late, with residents bidding farewell for another year.
Captain Jesse Edwin Waid of Harvard asserts confidence in victory after his crew rowed to their limit, stating he felt sure they would win once the third mile was passed. He chose not to make a lengthy statement about the race.
Captain Ruthven Wodell of Yale Crew says Harvard had the weight and skill to win. Yale fought hard, but Harvard produced more power and outrowed them, leaving Yale short of the sprint.

Roger Cutler of Brookline was elected captain of Harvard's crew for the next year by the Harvard oarsmen tonight. He pulled stroke in today's race and is brother to Eliott Cutler, captain of the 1909 crew.
National results show Boston over Philadelphia in the first game and a second game ending Boston four Philadelphia none. New York defeated Brooklyn. Pittsburg triumphed over Cincinnati by eight to two as St Louis and Chicago tied or varied. Detroit and St Louis played a meeting in American play with Cleveland also noted.
Ex President Theodore Roosevelt visits President Taft at Beverly exchanging remarks about leadership as a roving political battle heats in New York. Roosevelt condemns party bosses after Assembly defeats direct primary bill, signaling a fierce intra party campaign once he returns to Oyster Bay.
Forecasts for Boston area and New England call for Friday fair Saturday unsettled then mostly fair and continued warm with light variable winds. Winds near the coast will be light variable to mostly west, with similar light variable winds across the middle Atlantic coast. Steamers bound for European ports from Friday expect light to moderate variable winds and generally fair weather toward the Grand Banks.
