Washington man arrested in child abduction case
George F. Ormsby of Washington D C was arrested at Newburyport after eluding police for nearly two weeks on a charge of abducting his own son Edmund. He was arraigned in Boston before United States Commissioner Hayes and released on $1000 bail. As he left the Old State House he met Mrs Alfreda Aldrich with the 13 year old boy, the Salisbury Beach woman with whom he had been boarding.

Lincoln man arrested in Rutland extortion plot via Black Hand
Edward Gerey, 24, of Lincoln, was arrested at Bristol Notch on charges of trying to extort $500 from the Rutland railroad using Black Hand methods. A letter demanded the money be dropped from a wild engine from Brandon to Albury with a white flag cue. After two sightings of the flag, Gerey eluded officers but was later trapped near Bristol Notch and jailed in Middlebury.
