Constance Dickey followed Harland Brown from Wal tham Massachusetts to West Pembroke Maine where she hid in his home and fatally wounded him with a razor after which she slashed her own wrists and throat. She died at 5 PM refusing to discuss motive. Brown was the son of the proprietor of the West Pembroke home.
In this camp are at least 2300 young men, a great number of whom are clad.
Bishop Lawrence, head of the Protestant Episcopal Church pension fund, announced that pledges toward the 5 million goal have reached 3 million. He called it the consummation of a four month campaign and said full funding is expected to be pledged and effective by March 1, 1917.
London dispatch reports Earl Kitchener’s autograph letter calling for 300000 recruits for the new army sold at auction for 30000 to Thomas Fenwick Harrison for Red Cross funds. Harrison will present the letter to the nation.
Nearly 5000 members of the Boston Street Carmen's Union reject a three year wage proposal from the Boston Elevated Railway Company. The compromise would have raised wages by one cent an hour first year, a half cent second year, and one cent third year, totaling two and a half cents. The union met at Tremont Temple to make the stance clear.
The conference committee reading was met with jeers as group leaders tried to push a 12 hour ultimatum to the company or trigger a strike. Local and international officers struggled to control the meeting but won passage of a vote to continue the union’s pressure and refer the issue to the conference committee.
Boston defeated the Senators 6 to 1 in a game marked by a near riot at the Washington park. Tensions surged after George McBride was hit by a Carl Mays pitch, sparking a chaotic scene that showcased one of the city’s wildest ball park episodes in recent memory.
A violent fist fight erupted after a confrontation between manager Griffith and player Sam Agnew preceding the ensuing events. The altercation disrupted play and led to suspensions and police involvement.
A man was dragged from the ball park by two special officers, placed in the patrol wagon, and taken to the Washington police station on charges of assault and disorderly conduct. He posted $60 bail and was released, with a court appearance set for tomorrow.

Councillor Coulthurst, longtime figure in city and state politics, campaigned vigorously for favored measures. He was a prominent attorney with a wide practice. He was a public servant and fighter for his causes.
