A large frame locomotive shed burned to the ground in the Everett yards of the New England Coal & Coke Company. An expensive recent type locomotive was practically ruined in a $16,600 blaze that raged last night and menaced several other buildings and coal barges in the Mystic River.
A high wind fans a spectacular fire that consumes a shed and fuels two tar tanks and a coal processing area. Overheated stove likely started the blaze, discovered at 9 50 pm. Chief engineer George Bedlow loses 200 dollars in valuables, with smaller losses by other workers as flames light up the sky.

She rose from bed and walked to a chair but did not look from a window as followers had urged. A Boston wind storm battered the city and suburbs yesterday. Frederick A. Chandler was killed by falling brick from a wall on Beacon Street near Brimmer. Dozens were hurt, signs collapsed, and an elevated sign on Washington Street crashed, injuring workers.
In Waltham a man harvesting ice was blown from an ice cake into the Charles river and rescued just in time to prevent drowning as a gale wrought havoc along the river.
The wind measured 36 mph along the New England coast and increased to 46 mph in Boston. By New York City the velocity surged to 60 mph, indicating a rapidly intensifying coastal storm.
