Another Steamer Ordered By Boston Towboat Company

The Boston Towboat Company has ordered a second steamer from Maryland Steel Company of Baltimore, identical to the first and to be delivered by October. The vessel will be 324 feet between perpendiculars, about 345 feet overall, with a 47 foot beam and 28 foot moulded depth, four watertight compartments, and a 40 inch cellular bottom. Engines are triple expansion, 21, 25 and 56 inch cylinders, with steel chart and pilot houses and two steel pole masts with four cargo booms. Operated primarily for coal, but may freight US ports to Cuba and Porto Rico, likely commanded by Capt. Henry Lewis and Capt. Smith.

Havana Largest Coastwise Steamer Arrives After Successful Trial

The Ward line steamer Havana arrives in New York after a highly successful trial. It is the largest coastwise steamer and second only to St Paul and St Louis among U S liners.port trade shows heavy export totals for the week and a busy UK-bound ship schedule from Feb 1 to March 4. Benedict Will Filed for Probate in Suffolk Court

Washington G. Benedict a noted real estate figure in the city filed his will in Suffolk County Probate Court yesterday. The estate after debts goes to wife Harriet, with trust for relatives, church endowments, and specified bequests to Trinity Episcopal, Clarendon Street Baptist, and Rugggles Street Baptist churches and the Salvation Army.

Burial of Hon. A. H. Garland in Little Rock

The remains of Augustus H. Garland arrived in Little Rock escorted by a legislative committee. He lay in state in the Senate Chamber until 2 pm with services led by Rev W L E Thompson and two chapel officiants. Eulogies followed before a large procession to Mt Ey Cemetery for interment.

Boston Herald Fined $500 for Contempt of Court

In Superior Criminal Court Judge Bond fined the Boston Herald Publishing Company $500 for a contempt ruling after a Mulrey Scollan trial report used the headline Guilt Is Evident. The judge noted the headline was meant to attract attention and not imply guilt, calling it a show bill headline. Melvin O Adams and Moran and Richardson appeared for the parties, with witnesses and officials present.

Twins from Arctic adopted by Miner Bruce come to New York

Zakshner and Artmarboke, twins adopted daughters of Miner Bruce of 202 West Thirty ninth Street, travel from Seattle to New York to receive an American education. They are about six years old, resemble each other, wear furs, and will have casts taken for a nature museum exhibit.

Hearing on proposed state labor bills set for Feb 2
