Germany Short of Coal As Factories Stall
Berlin January 28 AP reports Germany faces a coal shortage that shadows other issues. Ruhr production falls from 33 000 to under 10 000 tons daily while Upper Silesia yields 2 000 carloads versus wartime and peace peaks. Rolling stock and locomotives are scarce as rail deliveries to allies deplete supplies.
