Retired Fireman Killed in Sleigh Accident on Westminster Street
Benjamin Thayer aged 70, a former Boston firefighter, died of heart failure while a runaway horse and sleigh crashed after he failed to restrain the animal on Westminster street. The incident also injure nine year old Fabian Fall as the sleigh crashed near Beacon Street. Thayer, identified by friends, had rented the rig from A T Robinson stable and was found unconscious before doctors arrived. He had long served in the city fire department and was living at the Westminster Hotel. The horse and sleigh continued to Kenny Clark's stable after the crash. Undertaker Waterman prepared the body for burial.
