New York January 27 fire in the hold of the steamer Revenshaw at Mediterranean stores Brooklyn caused about 80000 dollars in damage. The vessel carried 28000 baskets of fruit 6000 barrels of sulphur and 1000 bags of sumac with one third removed. Owner is John Corey of Cardiff Wales. In Framingham Massachusetts a fire destroyed a building occupied by Vollmer the painter and William Arbuckle blacksmith with total losses around 1400 dollars insured. In Woopvittort New Hampshire a blaze at Haverhill destroyed the residence of Hon George W Chapman caused by a defective chimney with losses about 4000 dollars all insured.
