Nearly 25 000 people attended the first services inaugurating a citywide Simultaneous Evangelistic Campaign. Services ran in 24 central churches, with groups of three to 14 churches joining for the movement. All evangelical churches in Greater Boston participated. Scotch evangelists McEwan and Lind say arrived yesterday and are expected to lead the campaign.
Crowds fill the largest city and suburban auditoriums amid plans for a Chapman led revival. The Boston Central Group prepares for a Friday start with top singers and William McEwan guiding music at Dudley Street Church. Pangermanist Robert Harkness joins as an Australian pianist and hymn writer accompanies the campaign.
Two coasters crashes in Greater Boston last evening leave two men fatally hurt. Dorchester resident James A. Cameron, 36, of 134 Park Street, struck by a double runner on Park Street, is carried to City Hospital with a brain contusion and not expected to live. Police lack names of the four boys on the double runner.
Raymond Foster Higgins 11 son of Mr and Mrs John W Higgins of 143 Central Street was thrown from a sled on Evergreen Avenue Somerville last night. He suffered a compound skull fracture and underwent surgery at Somerville Hospital with little hope for recovery.

In Washington on January 26, proponents of forest reserves in the White Mountains and the Appalachian region secured a legislative victory as the House committee on agriculture, by 9 to 8, favored a report on the Weeks bill to create these reserves.
The measure, drafted by Representatives Weeks Currier and Lever, seeks a National Forest Reservation Commission to advise on lands for watershed protection and navigable stream flow. It authorizes the Agriculture Secretary to manage private forest lands on watersheds for a term, with timber limited by rules, and directs public land revenues to fund acquisitions.
Former Boston man FE Brooks Dow regained sanity instantly upon seeing a letter from his daughter Myrtle Dow of Chelsea Massachusetts after months of wandering in Fort Worth Texas. Harvard psychologist Professor Hugo Munsterberg called the case extraordinary and unexplainable. Dow had been labeled insane and treated as a pauper while in Chelsea his daughter’s existence was doubted.

James B. Connolly the sea writer blamed Republic officers for the collision with the Florida. He said the Republic was raced through fog between 12 and 15 knots near shore before the incident, a speed he claimed was riskier than her ordinary pace.

The funeral for Eugene Lynch who died from injuries in the Republic steamer disaster will be held at his residence 68 Elm Hill Avenue Boston Thursday at 9 AM. A high mass will follow at the Church of the Immaculate Conception at 10 AM. Interment is in Springfield.
The body of Mr. Lynch reached the South station last evening at six from New York aboard the Knickerbocker express. He was accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. M. Hi. Curley who had traveled to New York on Friday to bid them bon voyage on their first European trip. Also present were Miss Alice Murray a niece Mrs. Dr. P. J. Winnigan Mrs. J. H. Byrne sisters of Mrs. Lynch Rev Fr James Lee ex US District Attorney John H. Casey Mrs. G. S. Barry of Springfield another Lynch sister and EF. A. Bickford a nephew of Mr. Lynch.
Captain Ruspini of the Florida says the Republic was moving in heavy fog at high speed when the collision occurred near Nantucket Lightship around 5 45 am January 23 1909. He asserts the Florida engines were reversed and the crew acted properly while aiding the Republic and its passengers.
