Brave Policeman Rescues Woman From Roxbury Fire

Patrolman Daniel Thompson of Station 10 broke into a second floor room at 7 Carmel Street Roxbury to save Nellie A Larrity 26 from suffocation after a smoke filled apartment from an overheated stove. He injured his shoulder but Miss Larrity revived and thanked him. Fire owned by Marcus Connell occupied by Patrick J Kelly caused less than 50 dollars loss. Alarm Box 229 sounded at 7 40 p m.

Fire of Death in Malden House Fire Claims Hedison Family

In Malden a 1:30 am blaze at Arthur Hedison home destroyed the house. Three children and a nephew are missing feared dead. Mrs Hedison possibly in Providence. Cause unknown. Alarm issues delayed response and searches continued at 3:30 am with no bodies found. Hedison, 40, a mill hand, had moved from Rhode Island.

Hawkesdale Run Aground off Margate Shores

The British ship Hawkesdale from Hamburg bound for Melbourne ran ashore on Long Sand near Margate. Lifeboats saved seven crew members by Margate and seventeen more by Clacton-on-Sea. Three crew including the pilot drowned when a boat capsized.
