At 64 True Street Revere a family quarrel over a shotgun led to cousin Rocco Bianco firing at Mrs Filomena Frusciello causing her death. Her husband John Frusciello then returned with a firearm and killed Bianco.
In Massachusetts, Rocco Bianco shot his cousin and later killed himself after wounding Mrs. Frusciello and her unborn child at a Revere residence. Bianco died at the hospital and the case prompted police to reevaluate the sequence of events when a dying man’s hat suggested a different theory.
On the New York New Haven Hartford line a rear coach left the rails on an overhead bridge at President avenue and struck an empty train on the next track. The 80 passengers were shaken though only one person, Mrs. Catherine Cunningham 80, was seriously injured from shock. Traffic halted for a time during the incident.
Fredericka Trefethen of Penrhyn Stanlaws seeks a Boston woman to sit for a modern Madonna painting. After over a week she scours the country in hopes of finding the right young sitter for the masterwork.
Miss Trefethen notes four young women failed to meet all of artist Stanlaw's strict criteria. Under 23, 133 to 188 pounds, graceful carriage, Madonnas’ oval face, and bold red-gold hair with brown eyes are required, but none satisfy the final color-eye combination.
A four story brick tenement at Revere and Anderson streets in the West End was at risk late last night as a closet fire on the first floor forced a family to flee. Patrolman McDonough of the Joy Street station entered the apartment and rescued Morris Rich and his wife and three children from danger.
Miss Rose Mc Laughlin alerted by dense smoke from the Richson house as fire drove occupants of three floors to safety in the chilly night. Officer McDonough and Sergeant Sullivan aided evacuation while firemen contained the blaze and a loss near $2000 was reported. Second floor held David Goldberg family, third Myer Kanovitch family, fourth Isaac Matton family.
After a full day conference the Lincoln Trust Company consolidates with the International Trust Company. The Lincoln Trust will liquidate its operations and its Summer and High streets site becomes a branch of the International Trust. The new group will have about 1.9 million dollars capital and 10 million in deposits with a 1 million dollar surplus.
Washington Jan 25 Col George W Goethals to be civil governor of the Canal Zone and after his work there an effort will be made to have him supervise the construction of the proposed Alaskan railway.
The New York New Haven Hartford Safety First campaign opened at the National Theatre with 2500 employees present. Chairman Howard Elliott and President James H. Wustis urged unity to improve railroad safety and set a leading record.
Besides Chairman Silcott and President Hustis, Edgar J. Rich general solicitor of the Boston and Maine, George F. McIntyre surgeon of the New Haven, W. C. Wilson attorney of the Delaware Lackawanna and Western, J B Canfield of the Boston and Albany, and others spoke to the men. Lantern slides showed accidents from carelessness and a field Red Cross representative demonstrated first aid to the injured.
The Smithsonian accepted by telegraph Beachey’s offer to demonstrate Langley’s flying machine. Beachey aims to prove the device was sound but needed a better motor after Langley’s project failed in the Potomac.
The annual Middlesex county convention of the American Federation of Catholic Societies denounced the tango and other dances as immoral amusements. They urged laws to suppress them during a session at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross.
Delegates from Middlesex County oppose a proposed bill placing Catholic and other private religious and charitable institutions under a state commission. They argue it is unnecessary and an unwarranted intrusion, noting the institutions are mainly Catholic and receive no state aid while saving the Commonwealth expenses. The gathering, led by Charles T. Daly, elected new officers and reported a total Catholic membership of 126,000 with more than 60 organizations across diverse ethnic groups.
Waterford, Ireland, January 25. John F. Redmond, leader of the Irish Nationalists, told a large crowd that barring accidents the home rule bill will become law this year.
Mr Redmond says any change would seek opposition favour but must keep Ireland's unity. He urges supporters not to contest William O Briens Cork seat after O Briens resignation prompted by Augustine Roche challenge to test the Irish party.

Police arrest August Kaufman in a string of safes blows across Boston business districts. Wattman confessed to six robberies, caught in the act at Rhodes Brothers on Tremont Street. Officials call him one of the era’s most dangerous burglars, a worldly self confessed criminal.
After hours of questioning at East Dedham police station Kaufman admitted to two jobs in Epstein's drug store at Essex and Washington streets and another at Union Furniture on Eliot street along with three other recent thefts. Police say he led them to near catch at Rhodes Brothers' store and anticipate a fuller confession. He is described as a scholar scientist socialist author and humanitarian.
