Police Commissioner Stephen O Meara may wholesale transfer the night sergeants and patrolmen from East Dedham street station after a long standing jealousy within the division. The move follows Sergeant Jeremiah J Riordan complaining he is not getting a square deal in the division.
Constantinople January 22 Grand Council of Turkey agrees to yield to Western powers. Adrianople ceded to Bulgaria and Aegean Islands disposition required, marking practical retirement of Turkey as a European nation. Only small European strip remains under Turkish control near Constantinople.
Governor Foss seeks Colonel Joseph F. Scott, former New York state prisons superintendent, to reorganize Massachusetts prisons. Albany reports indicate the effort aims to overhaul the state system.
Colonel Scott travels toward Massachusetts to meet Governor Foss and discuss abolishing Charlestown State prison. He may lead the Massachusetts Prison Commission and advocate a large open-work penal colony. Scott recently resigned as New York prisons superintendent after a policy dispute with Governor Svizer.

Miss Violet Percival of Roxbury jumped from a running automobile on North and Richmond streets and was severely injured. The steam car, driven by George Hull, crashed into Banco Stabile after knocking Miss Percival unconscious. The party included Bertha Hurley Maisy Johnson Maud Fye and Edward S Clarke.
President Ernest Fox Nichols announced at the New York Alumni Association dinner that Dartmouth College will receive a 75000 gift from P. D. Stewart of St. Albans Maine. The donation was revealed during the 49th annual New York alumni dinner.
Helen Miller Gould and Finley J. Shepard married today in Lyndhurst drawing room above the Tappan Zee. They will remain there several days and have received numerous congratulations by land and cable, with over 1000 messages noted from Tarrytown and beyond.
Miss Gould wed in a swift Presbyterian ceremony at Lyndhurst attended by about 40 staff members from Lyndhurst and her Fifth Avenue home. The service began at 12 38 with Rev Daniel Russell reading the first words and her brother George J Gould giving her away.
Edgar F. Billings age 41 a manufacturer and consulting chemist of 12 South Street Brighton collapsed while driving with his wife through Dorchester last evening. Mrs Billings drove home and a physician was summoned but he was dead before aid arrived.
The commissioner will convene a hearing this week to thoroughly discuss the difficulties among the officers. It is expected that those responsible will be transferred to other districts after the review.
Mary Welsh alias Minnie L Charter faces trial in East Cambridge for breaking and entering and larceny of two tires from A A Proctor’s Avern garage on November 5 1912. She claims accomplice John Gaskill alias John Richards posed as Dr James Stillman and planned marriage on Christmas Day.
New Haven Jan 22 Orange directors announce every child born in Orange will receive a savings bank book showing a one dollar deposit to the Orange bank. The treasurer will use town clerk birth returns to forward each book to parents promptly.

At a Lynn Municipal Council hearing yesterday claims alleged mistreatment of children at the Lynn Smallpox Hospital included whipping, neglected patients, and a matron acting as a puppet to the superintendent.
A hearing was continued to Wednesday as affidavits targeted the Board of Health and matron Mrs. Alice Chase. Claims included harsh discipline, routine daily body massage by a nurse, removal of supplies, and neglectful conditions affecting patients and staff including John Gagnon and his family and other former employees.
Robert J. Westberg aged 26, a passenger brakeman for Boston and Maine, was crushed between a Pullman car and a yard engine while shifting cars in Somerville yard 5. He died two hours after at Massachusetts General Hospital. He leaves a wife and two children in Waltham. mother in Attleboro.

Mrs. Smith and Edmund Cote testified over a piano sold to Mrs. Smith for 135 at wholesale, with Cote noting 200 to 400 as fair retail prices by region. Powers confirmed sale to Mrs. Smith and a 400 retail receipt was issued to aid future resale, though no lessons were ever given.
Arrest of John Sheridan of 1839 Vernon Street Roxbury and Michael F Crosson of 1088 Bennington Street East Boston revealed a knife and fist fight with coal lumps in the boiler room of the Pemberton square courthouse during yesterday's early morning hours.
Crosson, an able bodied fireman, was found with a knife wound near the left shoulder blade and a kidney area injury after an alleged slip on an ice pick. Sheridan was arrested at police headquarters on a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon.
Commandant De Witt Coffman of the Charleston Navy Yard orders that children under 17 may not enter without a parent or guardian. Previously the yard admitted the public on Sundays and holidays with a 14 year age limit. Disruptive behavior cited as the cause for the new restriction.
Harry Perkins of Waltham was arrested at the North Station on a complaint by a stranger claiming he is a fugitive wanted in Elgin Illinois for theft of watches valued at several thousand dollars from the Elgin Watch Company. Elgin police have been notified.
