Eight saved from fire at Bryant Street tenement

Malden Jan 21 eight children aged 12 to four months and a woman in bed were saved when Morris Bazen woke his family and carried his wife downstairs then with his brother rescued the children. Smoke filled rooms but all escaped with some intoxicated by smoke. Fire started in the basement but was checked before reaching upper floors.

Crook Knocks Down Officer in Night Arrest

Albert Carmody of 171 Bagt Ded ham street, with a criminal history, was arrested last night by Officer James J. Macksey of Station 4 after a rimming chase. The officer fired his revolver for help and used his club on Carmody and companions after being knocked to the ground. Officer Macksey saw them force Charles E. McDonald of 7 Saxon street into a doorway at 5 Ohio street where they attempted to rob him and tried to arrest the pair.
