Doctor Fails To Board Ferry, Struck By Truck
An East Boston doctor was found frozen near the North Ferry after attempting to board the Juniata at Battery Wharf. He was struck by a freight truck on the gang plank and fell into icy water, then rescued by L Jackman before being taken to the North End police station by patrolmen.

A fierce five alarm blaze swept a four story brick building at 221 Purchase Street last evening. Fire crews faced near freezing temperatures as water froze on contact and windows were blown out by a hot air explosion. Estimated loss 75000 dollars. Building owned by the Gaston heirs. Explosion Destroys South Boston Barbershop
A gas explosion at 7 B Street South Boston wrecked Joseph Costa's barbershop at about 1 40 this morning. Mrs Costa and seven children escaped unharmed after being led out into the cold night. Windows, a rear partition, and a copper boiler were blown about with a flour barrel launched to the second floor. The damage is estimated around 400 dollars. The cause remains a mystery with initial theories of an air tank or gas pipe explosion. One gas burner reportedly stayed lit.
