In San Francisco on January 18, evidence will show that Thomas J. Mooney led The Blasters, an anarchist group, who threatened President Wilson as his murder trial proceeds. Assistant District Attorney Edward A. Cunha stated in opening remarks at the Superior Court.
Dave Fultz head of the Baseball Players' Fraternity met with about a dozen major and minor leaguers at the Hotel Touraine Boston and left confident that Boston players and New England members would honor pledges and postpone signing contracts until baseball powers grant the requested contentions.

Harold Ward of 15 Hersey Place Quincy was found unconscious on a ship under construction at Fore River Shipbuilding Company yard. The 22 year old employee was rushed to Quincy City Hospital in critical condition with brain concussion and unable to explain the injury.
The British steamer Yarrowdale reached Sao Vicente Cape Verde Islands on January 16 carrying about 400 sailors from eight sunken ships seized by the German raider in the Atlantic. Official reports confirm crews were aboard the vessel.
Rio de Janeiro reports it is almost certain the German armed raider Moene is behind recent Atlantic shipping losses. The American consul at Pernambuco confirms several Americans were landed from ships seized by the raider, noting no American ships were sunk and all rescued sailors were male.
