Council Slates Contested Elections After Absences
At a crowded meeting Republicans Brooks and Cushing were absent. Democrats used the gap to dispose of three contested elections without reference to the elections committee, including Dillon Reed Mulhall and Bagley cases. The council adopted new committee lists and debated rescinding the previous referral of petitions to the elections committee.
Contested Seats in Ward 3 and Ward 12 Decided
The council resolved that Frank E. Bagley and Francis H. Dillon are entitled to Ward 3 seats, and John P. Reed is not. John J. Mulhall is entitled to Ward 12, and James B. Hayes is not. After hearing debate on votes credited to multiple ticket spellings, the matter was sent to the committee on elections for hearing and the three admitted members were escorted in and sworn in.
