In New Haven on Jan 14 the New York New Haven and Hartford Railroad and the Brotherhood of Railroad Clerks signed an agreement ending a long wage dispute. Vice President H J Horn and General Manager B R Pollock for the company and J J Forrester grand vice chairman of the clerks order for the union announced satisfactory settlement with mutual concessions implied.

Three Republican Maine House members who are postmasters resign to Washington tonight. Debate over their seats interrupted the noon vote for U S Senator to succeed Obadiah Gardner. William H Farrar of Ripley was unseated 76 to 71. Horace Mitchell Kittery Otis H Taylor Topsfield and James Mathieson Rangely also faced motions. Burleigh led in the Senate 72 to 72. House tied. Leaders forecast a seven vote Republican gains in the joint convention tomorrow.

Wife in Control of Home Denied Separation Ruling

In Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Crane refused Gardner L. Field a separation from Adelaide Field. He had left the home after alleged interference by his mother-in-law who claimed she had no say in management. Mrs Field offered to return if the mother-in-law was banished. Field did not consent. justice urged that the wife remains in charge of the home.
