Verdi Rigoletto Delivers Mixed Boston Theatre Night

An audience in Boston packed the Boston Theatre for Verdi's Rigoletto but the performance was only fairly well presented with several choicest airs cut. Signor Da Anni as Rigoletto received strong praise for his acting and voice, while Signor Giannini as the Duke and Mine. Nordica offered mixed merit. Fra Diavolo and other pieces followed with variable vitality, and Shylock and Petruchio in a double bill at the Boston Museum drew attention to Booth's adaptable Shakespearean showcase. The Mikado featured Miss Ida Mull as Yum Yum with new cast members Mansfield and Grant delivering mixed results. Pimestreley at the Boston Theatre previews Lester and Alten minstrel company with a large bill and appearances by Sullivan and Muldoon.
