Boston Merchants Report New Members and Mail Service Talks
The Boston Merchants Association held its January board meeting at Young's Hotel. New members admitted were T. Metcalf Company and Sudbury Manufacturing Company. A plan to improve Boston to New York mail delivery was discussed, with a statement from Postmaster Hibbard noting possible action with the New York, New Haven & Hartford railroad. A push to route imports through Boston was urged, and Bemis Bros. Bag Company asked for a committee to study the city’s smoke nuisance, to be investigated by the legislative committee for the next meeting.
